Brittani's Approach

I approach each client as a unique individual, not as a diagnosis or part of a group appropriate for one specific type of therapy.  Necessarily, then, the work I do with each person or couple will be a little different from every other.   In general, I draw elements from a well made up of CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy), mindfulness and psychodynamic schools including attachment, object relations, existential and person-centered therapy, among others.

No matter the combination, I always employ a strengths-based perspective and a strong belief in client self-determination.  With each client or couple, I form a relationship of equals.  I bring training and experience and the client brings their rich history, inner experience and desire for growth and change.  Together we can examine patterns, identify sources of hope, build skills, challenge fears and distortions and create road maps which the client will then use to take those next powerful, healing steps.

I strive to make my practice as inclusive as possible and try to be anti-racist and LGBTQ+ affirming with every client and every area of my practice.
